Remote Appearances

Alpine County Superior Court allows certain proceedings to be conducted remotely via Zoom.

Remote Zoom Hearings

Traffic, Civil, Family Law, and Small Claims cases may be heard remotely via Zoom.

Traffic

Alpine County Superior Court allows all traffic matters to be heard remotely by video conference using Zoom. If you cannot appear by video, you may join the Zoom conference by audio only. There is no cost to appear by Zoom.

Alpine County Superior Court holds its Traffic Calendar every Monday at 10:00AM, unless:

  • The Monday is a Court Holiday, and the calendar is shifted to the Tuesday of that week.

To appear remotely via Zoom you will need to provide the court with an email address to receive your Zoom invite link. Please call the Clerk’s Office no later than the Wednesday preceding your scheduled appearance date as noted on your courtesy notice or citation. You will need to provide the clerk with a phone number as back-up.

Invites for the Traffic calendar are sent out the preceding Friday afternoon. If you requested a Zoom invite and did not receive it by this time, please call the Clerk's Office to confirm your contact information.

Civil

Alpine County Superior Court hears Civil, Small Claims, and Family Law matters under the same "Civil" Calendar due to calendar size. The Civil Calendar is held every Tuesday starting at 10:00AM, unless:

  • The Monday is a Court Holiday, and the calendar is shifted to the Wednesday of that week.

To appear via Zoom you will need to provide the court with a good and accurate email address to receive the Zoom invite link. You will need to provide the Clerk's Office with a phone number as back-up.

Attorneys: If the email you are providing on your pleading is not the correct email for a Zoom invite, please provide the email and name of the attorney that will be attending the Zoom Hearing.

Making Your Appearance

Any recording of a court proceeding held by video or teleconference, including “screen-shots” or other audio or visual copying of a hearing, is absolutely prohibited.

Before You Join the Hearing

  • Download Zoom to the device you plan to use for the hearing, and create an account if you do not have one.
  • Use your full first and last name as it is shown on your driver's license or court documentation. It is recommended to include your case/ docket number if you have room. Please make sure you are not using a username or nickname that is inappropriate to be shown in court.
  • If you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with computer technology, please consider using the telephone call-in number in the Zoom invite to participate.

  • After you connect, a screen should load showing your face. After you see this screen, click join with video.
